Hydraulics

Hydraulics applies engineering principals and methods to the control, conservation, and utilization of water. Because hydraulics and design are closely related, they must be developed together. Design of open channels (including rivers, canals, and ditches), pipelines and sewers, dam spillways and outlet works, pump stations and appurtenances must be done using sound hydraulic principals.     Project Description   
    The Town of Buffalo had experienced difficulty with storage depletion, meeting peak daily demands, and maintaining pressures and adequate fire flows in the north portions of town. Previously developed computer models were updated to more accurately represent the present operation of the distribution system. 20-year population and demand projections were imposed on the model to determine future water storage needs. Transmission  mains were evaluated for supplementing water short areas, as well as anticipated development west and north of the town. Conceptual designs and cost estimates for a 2.5 million gallon tank, transmission mains, and pressure reducing stations were developed.
